Auntie Lou and the Alien #2 1994
Auntie Lou was nobody's aunt. She sits on the porch in her old rocking chair waiting for something. She slowly gazes at the tall grass and unkempt fields. She knows that is a coming, but she does not know when.

She notices a figure coming up the path. As the person gets closer, Auntie Lou can tell that it is an elderly woman. She does not recognize her. Auntie Lou is not fearful because there is a felling of familiarity.

The woman walks slowly but with great strength. Auntie Lou envies her, because her knees are very bad with arthritis.

When the woman hesitates, Auntie Lou slowly motions for her to come forward. As the old woman gets closer Auntie Lou is startled by the color of her eyes. They are the color of the sun. They shine with an intensity that is frightening. Auntie Lou draws back in her old chair as she tries to escape the intensity. The old woman speaks and says "Do not be afraid. I come because you need me."

Although Auntie Lou is frightened, she can feel the warmth of the old woman's spirit. She closes her eyes tightly. Maybe, she imagined her presence. Suddenly, she feels the woman next to her. She is afraid to open her eyes. She is afraid that the sun in the woman's eyes will blind her. The warmth of woman's presence remains for only a few moments. The woman says softly, "I am here to comfort you." Auntie Lou begins to dissolve into a state of utter relaxation. She is alone again. It is OK. She continues to keep her eyes closed.

Auntie Lou drifts into a sleep/dream state. She dreams of times past. She dreams that these is young again. The sun is high in the sky. The fields are green with the food she and her late husband Ernest have planted. Ernest pushes her high in a swing he has made for her. They make love under a quilt in the shade of an old oak tree. She is happy and full of love. She wakes up. She slowly looks around and feels a great sadness.

She is really alone. There is no one around to be seen and she feels free. She begins to sense the presence of many others. Auntie Lou stand up and is amazed at her strength. Her knees feel like they did 40 years ago. She gazes at the sun and feels the warmth of it burning into her skin. As she looks around her eyes begin to pick out objects that are seemingly hundreds of yards away. The objects are so clear that she can see through them.

She begins to feel the presence of an old man. He is lonesome and his time is near. She knows where he is. She wraps herself in her shawl. She will find him and give him his gift. Unknown to her, her eyes are the color of the sun.
